With all the crazy shit that has been going on in my life, I forgot to post that I uploaded my very first short film!
JOHNNY MOMENT stars Aaron Lazar as a man who wakes up on a bathroom floor with blood on his hands and no memory of how he got there. I made this 16mm short back in 1999, but ran out of money for post-production (this is before the days of do-it-your-self digital post-production). It’s been sitting on my shelf for about 10 years, while I’ve gone on to write, direct and produce many other shorts and commercials. So I thought it would be fun to share my rough beginnings! Enjoy!

Hi Reyneer
Once again, excellent work on this film. It’s unfortunate you have the copyright issues with the Bogart film and the music but the art direction and pacing is very good. I am so sorry that it is even more of a challenge for your generation to get a start in this horrible economy. You realy deserve a break and I wish you all the best. Talent like yours should be given a green light. It’s hard to say what makes heads turn. Perhaps if you used a name acting talent like Mark Sawicki in your next endeavor people would take notice…………..or head for the hills. All kidding aside I’m so encouraged that you have the fortitude to keep up the good push. It will happen. As the saying goes you can pick them at the starting gate.
All the best,
Mark Sawicki
Thanks, Mark! Actually, the music is all originally composed for the film by Matthew Kajscienski, so no problems there. And the rights to the Big Sleep can be purchased somewhat cheaply. The issues we had were much more on the technical side and the money to fix all these things just didn’t make sense after a point.
I’m glad you dug the film, though! It’s been sitting on my shelf for so long, it’s nice for it to finally have an audience! :-)
